Slave Lake Adult Education hired some contract instructors. People can also volunteer as tutors or board members.

The contract instructors and board members receive an honorarium. Volunteer tutors are honoured each year at a volunteer appreciation supper.

Volunteer tutors are asked to commit to meet with one adult learner once a week for a semester. The tutor can help them with a course, which would include some preparation. In the case of English language learners, volunteers can also commit to one one-hour one-on-one conversation a week in English to help the learner improve their speaking and listening.

All Slave Lake Adult Education staff, board members, contract instructors, and volunteer tutors must pass a criminal record check. Slave Lake Adult Education will supply a letter saying that the position is volunteer for volunteers, so the criminal record check is free.

Join Our Board!

Slave Lake Adult Education is a society and a charity that is governed by a volunteer board. The board meets nine times a year including the annual general meeting in June. Board members are also expected to be on a subcommittee. The subcommittees include finance, policy, and personnel.
